Janice shares another milestone in the testimony of her journey out of shame. Because of shame, part of Janice felt like she was on the outside, looking in. In the fall of 2004, while helping teach a Father Heart School in Norway, she tells of her very personal encounter with the Father, which included a new freedom to skip into her Father's house. He gave her what felt like a guided tour of His house. The revelation that came with this experience has resulted in a whole new dimension of who Janice is. There was always an artist hidden inside, buried under shame, but on this occasion she was unlocked and set free. This has in turn started a journey of exploration and revelation in her whole creative side. We have seen others, through this message, set free to expore their creativity, and important component of who those persons really are.
Ian relates his own story to the message of the "Prodigal Son" story from Luke 15. He compares the love demonstrated by the Father, in welcoming home the younger son, to the strange response of his elder brother at the same event. Ian shares from his own life how he readily identified with the 'elder brother' and for years could not understand 'what he did wrong'. After all, he stayed home and worked, like one is 'supposed to do'. Ian shares how he came to Christ through the sin door, that is, he knew he was a sinner and needed a Saviour. He thought then that he had to learn to 'do church right'. He really felt that the Father's affection for him was based on what he did for the Father. He couldn't understand why God never seemed to use him. Now he knows it is all about love, being loved and then giving it away. The Father has since used Ian and Janice to touch thousands of people with this message all over the world.
Taking a closer look at 1 Cor.13, the 'Love' chapter, brings surprising revelation. Understanding that this scripture has nothing to do with our ultimate salvation but everything to do with our heart's motivation. We begin to see how black and white it is through the eyes of the Father. We see more clearly how the love of the Father is the 'Bottom Line' motivation behind all that we 'do'. The final question will not be "How many did you evangelize?" or "How many times did you prophecy?" Rather it will be "Did you know I love you?" And after being loved, "Did you love in all that you say and do?"
Ian traces his journey, along with Janice, into the Father's love. There are clear revelations that must be received and then incorporated into one's life in order for that life to be transformed. There must come a time when the revelation of the Father's love touches and transforms the heart, a 'Central Event' moment as Ed Piorek says, through a 'heart encounter' with the Father's pure love. This encounter or these encounters must become a way of life as we constantly return to the Source (The Father Himself). This growing intimate relationship allows us to live 'by faith', that is; 'faith in the lover of our souls'. Over time we start to have not only a message but ultimately to'become the message'. We start to live, love, and sound like Jesus Himself.
Have you ever had a prophetic promise spoken over you, only to find yourself waiting and waiting but apparently not receiving? Janice takes a closer look at the "Heroes of the Faith" in Hebrews 11, who had to wait and wait andindeed some died without receiving the 'promise'. Did that nullify the 'promise'? Is it possible that we have become too focused on this life and lost sight of our eternal life where the Father brings us into our full vindication? She also shares how she and Ian have learned these truths by personal experience.
Ian shares his own story, how the Father took a broken, highly religious business man working away at IBM. He traces his story from a Holy Spirit ambush in 1984, his coming along with Janice to the Toronto Airport Vineyard in 1990, being filled with the Holy Spirit in that same year; joining John and Carol Arnott on short term ministry trips to Nicaragua in 1992 and 1993, which led to John Arnott asking Ian and Janice to join the Senior Pastoral staff at the Vineyard in September 1993. Ian was there the night the Toronto Revival began (January 20, 1994). The Father called them to travel to the nations full-time in 1998, to carry the message of the 'Father's Love', which revelation has transformed their lives. This message describes the revelation, healing and indeed transformation that has happened on Ian's own journey into the Father's love. It has so changed him that he, along with Janice, now carry this message around the world.
In this message Ian addresses the Questions he received from the Holy Spirit:
As Ian pondered these questions, he faced significant changes in his life. Janice had just announced that she needed to step down from ministry for a season, and he was looking at traveling alone, something he did not relish. Ian shares what revelations he received as he indeed stepped out, 'alone' in international ministry This has resulted in a profound paradigm shift for him in terms of his thinking and the resultant surprising increase in all facets of his ministry. This turns out to be a message for the whole church.
Ian discusses how he is living out this paradigm shift. To actually embrace his weakness, not just to tolerate it, but to rejoice in it, because he is beginning to see Christ's strength perfected in his weakness.(2 Cor. 12:9). The initial fruit has been remarkable. He shares that we were always taught to be 'strong, competent, have all the answers, be correct and have it all together'. Yet Jesus taught us from Matthew 11:25 I praise you Father, Lord of Heaven and earth because you have hidden these things from the wise and learned, and revealed them to little children. He calls us to humble ourselves and become like little children (Matthew 18:1-4). Children are weak and needy yet are free, trusting, fearless and transparent.
The Father is raising up spiritual fathers and mothers to parent the coming harvest. As Ian travels throughout the world, the common condition of every nation to which he has traveled, is the 'fatherlessness' he encounters. 1 Cor.4:15 says Even though you have many guardians in Christ, you do not have many fathers. Ian believes that several of us are being challenged and indeed called to become moms and dads in the Spirit. As we mature in our understanding of the Father's love, as we become sons and daughters, we know who we are, significant in sonship, we can then move on to become His representative to others. We can love the lost with the Father's love. Are you called to this role?
The Holy Spirit asked Ian this question. The answer surprised Ian and led him into a fuller understanding of who the Father is and how He functions. The other question was "Does the Father suffer?" Is He emotionally neutral or does He feel? As we understand how He suffers on our behalf we are attracted even more so to His love, we really want to know and relate to Him on a very intimate level.
Come Encounter the Father's Love, as Janice and Ian bring three brief sessions of Teaching, followed by Prophetic Ministry, all accompanied by anointed instrumental worship music. The Holy Spirit gave Ian the title "Encountering the Father's Love", because that is what this CD is all about. This is not a teaching tool, but for the purpose of Soaking in His Presence.
